Women’s History Month

Women’s History Month is all about celebrating the women in our lives and those who have paved the way before us. We wouldn't be able to do what we do without the incredible women here at MGM Dumpsters. From getting payroll out, to welding our classic red and yellow dumpsters together, to planning all of our community events and sponsorships, these ladies get it done.

Learn about their achievements, values, inspirations and stories by reading the full story below.

Laura Alfano

Laura is often referred to as "The Babysitter" or "Sgt Slaughter" and both have interesting stories behind them, but that's for another time.  She is a Wayne State Tartar (now The Warriors) with BS & BA degrees in Accounting and Business Finance.  She enjoys hanging out with her husband Chris of 30 years, her kids Olivia & Christopher and their significant others. Together we enjoy a lot of music (all are musicians), adventures (best one yet is Iceland), home cooked meals (loves to cook) and laughs (she's kinda funny).  Laura is a very involved member of the Anchor Bay Rotary and a constant volunteer with More Than A Bus.  She believes in always getting involved and giving back to your community because many hands do make light work and there could come a time that I need the same grace.

Stephanie is our “Trailer Queen” Welder and Trailer Technician. On the daily you can find Stephanie repairing our trailer and frontload dumpsters, prepping them to get sent back out to our customer’s job sites. Under the inspiration of Rosie The Riveter, she attended St. Clair County Community College where she studied Machining and Welding. After hanging her welding helmet up for the day, Stephanie goes home to her daughter, where they hangout, workout and even take dancing classes together. You can catch her riding her quad on the muddy trails by her house, or camping with friends and family on the weekends. She has always been inspired by women in history who have paved the way for us today, and finds strength in encouraging other women to be strong and independent, believing that “anything boys can do, women can do better.”

Sandy Peterson

Sandy is our very own Frontload Specialist, working with our customers to create garbage disposal plans that work best for them. You can always find Sandy laughing and having a great conversation with our customers. Before sporting our classic red and yellow, Sandy wore red, white and blue, serving in the US Air Force for 1 Term. She continues her service at her local VFW Post, serving in the Color Guard. She is a mother to two amazing boys, and recently gained the title “Gigi” with the birth of her first grandson. In her free time, Sandy loves to go camping with her dog, Phoebe. She is a strong advocate for women’s rights and equality for all!

Carly’s smiling face is the first you’ll see when you visit us at MGM Dumpsters. She graduated from Albion College in 2021, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management. Carly is a jack of all trades, helping with frontload routing, advertisement, sales and so much more. After leaving the office for the day, she swaps her MGM Dumpsters gear for her Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach hoodie and books it over to Troy High School. She is a sports enthusiast, as well as a huge advocate for mental health awareness. You can catch her in the weight room, at a concert, or playing the guitar.

Kristin Ullicny

Kristin is sassy, classy, with a touch of badassery. When she is not wearing her RN-BSN hat at the hospital, she is wearing multiple hats here at MGM. She loves planning and organizing community-based events, as well as keeping your social media feed packed with MGM content. She is very proud of the title “Aunt Tin,” having three awesome nephews and one adorable niece. When she’s not saving lives or planning MGM events, she enjoys staying active by participating in 5k's, biking, and doing stair challenges. Concerts, sporting events, golfing and boating consume what available free time she has left; she is always on the go. MGM is in her blood, she lives, eats and breaths it, and most days you can catch her in her MGM swag. She has been tagged the MGM Cheerleader, where enthusiasm and "trashy" coincide when you're the "dumpster girl!"

Shari has been helping customers with their MGM Dumpster needs and billing inquiries since 2014. Cultivating dependability and trust for our customers is extremely important to her, and she excels at this. Her official position is in Accounts Receivable, but she is a multifaceted asset, assisting in many other departments. When Shari gets home for the evening, she loves going for long runs on the trails by her house, or diving into home improvements. She loves camping with family, friends, and her fur babies on her weekends off, as well as kayaking, paddleboarding and riding her bike during the warmer months. Shari means serious business, so long as the serious business is a good laugh with a customer!
